John Waters Film Festival
The objective of this graduate school project was to develop a cohesive collateral system for a film festival by following a distinct thread in a director’s work. The protagonists in John Waters films are always unexpected revolutionaries, each creating a controversy or upheaval that first divides, but ultimately unites, their community. Bright colors, retro-inspired photography styles, and the flippant lingo of the films’ dialogue give these pieces the smarmy-yet-charming feeling of Hairspray, Cry-Baby, A Dirty Shame, Serial Mom, and Pecker.
